More Than $145000 Granted to Cass County Community Projects

The American Legion Post 508 in Atlantic, Iowa, is getting a much-needed facelift.

Thanks to a grant from the Cass County Community Foundation, the group has spent $5,000 on a new bathroom, among other projects, the Atlantic Daily News reports.

The foundation, an affiliate of the Omaha Community Foundation, awards grants each year from a percentage of the state's commercial gaming tax, which is distributed to community foundations associated with counties without a state-issued gaming license.

The Atlantic Post 508's project was one of 14 grants totaling $145,696 awarded in Cass County's spring 2024 grant cycle, per a press release.

The grants will go to: Anita Health and Wellness Center, cardio equipment, $5,349,99 Ann W.

Gaylordman Child Development Center, improvements to quality care, $10,000 Atlantic Parks and Recreation, Atlantic Swimming Pool equipment, $5,000 Nishna Vally Family YMCA, quality pool air, $15,000 Shift ATL, Atlantic Community Splash Pad, $5,000 Trivium Life Services, fresh start fund, $2,000 and Vision Atlantic, Vision Atlantic Child Development Center, $11,318 The Griswold Fire Department, portable ground monitor, $4,855.39 Healthy Cass County-Grow Another Row, Mollett Park community garden hydrants, $3,000 Lewis Public Library, mobile adult
